Production Notes

Chris originated the film and raised the initial finance. I joined at pre-production as producer, through Paragon Pictures, and led on contracting and legals, then production, post production, delivery and the festival strategy. Rachel Richardson Jones of Grimmfest Films was executive producer.

It is my first feature as a producer. Chris had the DOP, James Oldham, and the editor attached when I joined. I built the rest of the production and post teams around them. The shoot ran for a month. The development, post production and delivery that followed took around eighteen months, which is a long way to stretch a micro-budget.

I worked with Chris on the treatment. I proposed OMD’s ‘Enola Gay’ for the finale, so the audience ends up complicit in what happens on screen, and through my commercial network brought Andy McCluskey and Kim Wilde together to record a new version of it for the film. I introduced Look Mum No Computer as a figure in Martyn’s imagination, and suggested using archive footage to put the history of the synthesizer into the picture.

The film had its UK premiere at Manchester International Film Festival on 27 March 2026, where Thomas Turgoose won Best Actor. It screened at FrightFest in London on 29 August 2026 and plays London Breeze Festival on 23 October 2026. Chris talked to The Mancunion about making it.
