A Lawyer Looks

Brand Film

As a young child, Sam Eskdale was the victim of a serious crime. This experience, and their exposure to the legal world at such a formative age had a tremendous effect on their childhood. It formed in them a clear and specific calling - to practise law and provide help and support to vulnerable people.

Sam has two major passions in life. One is the law, and the other is DRAG. As well as being a barrister, Sam moonlights as a Drag Queen called Holly Spirit. This film explores how these two seemingly disparate worlds come together in Sam to enrich their life and improve their ability to practise law.

Through their unique experience we examine the experience of an openly Queer person in a profession that is still perceived as predominantly masculine and conservative. Sam's story exemplifies the notion that what makes you different makes you better and that the old stereotype of what a lawyer looks like is fast becoming outdated.
