The ‘Lawyer looks like me’ series of films was commissioned by BPP University, we first started filming them in 2022. Each film spotlights diversity in the legal profession.
This short documentary follows Sam Eskdale – A law student studying to be a barrister who’s alter ego is a drag artist.
The directing and producing of this project was shared with Jay Booton. BPP team provided creative direction.
Pre-Production for these film began with a video call with the student, we work with the student to find the beats of their story before we turn up with a camera.
Myself and Jay then went to the shoots and captured a mixture of portraiture, interviews and cutaways. The students always have the final cut on their films.
This entry into the ‘A Lawyer Looks Like Me’ series won the Issues & Reputation category at the Campaign Magazine/PR Week Brand Film Awards EMEA 2024.
The series has grown to a larger set of films, with around 5 stories told. There is a second film from the series in my portfolio, this one follows a graduate called Ayesha.
